Summer Ministries Teams from the Florida Conference and the Appalachian Region spent an amazing week with Camp Dixie Counselors and Summer Ministries Teams at Camp Dixie in Fayetteville, NC. For the past several years, the three groups have joined together to share resources and ministry strengths as they prepare college students for a summer of ministry. The bonds between the three groups seem to strengthen each year. Mornings are spent together looking at areas that are common to all three groups and in teambuilding activities. In the afternoon, the groups meet independently to focus on preparation and planning specific to their summer schedule. The evenings are set aside for Bible study, spiritual renewal and relationship building.
After spending a couple of evenings looking at the Old Testament sacrificial system, small groups were sent with a script to guide them on a hike symbolic of Israel’s Journey. Another evening was spent visiting stations that explained the Tabernacle, and how they relate to our lives as believers in Christ. On the final night together, we shared in a Messianic Seder meal.
